A Million Other Things
My flight leaves in less than 3 hours.
There are a million other things I can be doing right now...
but instead... I'm sitting here, thinking.
About what?
The present.
There is a quote that states, "The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present."
There is a quote that states, "The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present."
I used to wonder why people did not want to talk about the past, but now... I understand. Talking about the past cannot fix anything in present day. Sure, it may clear stuff up here and there, but the emotions that were felt have already run its course. You can't undo feelings that were already felt... uncry tears that have already fallen... nor retract angry words that have already left the tip of the tongue.
The past. What's done is done. It is history.
In hindsight, if we spend today, thinking about yesterday,
then the future only stays as a reflection of something that is impossible to
change: the past. It is all a huge vicious cycle that we can easily get wrapped
into without even realizing it. It took me a long time to connect the dots and
CONSCIOUSLY make a decision to move forward. And in order to consciously move
forward, it is imperative to proactively live in the present.
The present.
What exactly is the present?
This is a tough question. Lol. But the present is good.
Scratch that.
The present is great.
The present is new and exciting. The present makes me nervous. The
present is a breath of fresh air. The present makes me laugh. The present is
confident. The present is scary. The
present is far away. The present is near. The present is a gift. The present is
today.
Make the best of every day because tomorrow is never promised to
anyone. Make the best of every day because you deserve it. Make the best of every day because every day is a choice. You hear that?
Every day is a choice. My choice. Your choice.
And what other gift can anyone ask for than the
choice to be happy?
