Nomday
Happy Nomday!
In celebration of great eats and the amazing
food scene in Northeast Ohio, I have declared Mondays as Nomdays. (Haha, clever
right?) Nomdays will consist of personal encounters and experiences within
restaurants local to Northeast Ohio. Wait, what about Yelp?
Well, although I enjoy using Yelp to find food “hot spots” – I rarely find myself writing reviews
because I have always felt that my style of writing does not fit the type of
readers who utilize Yelp the way I do… Selfish, I know, but let me explain.
When I use Yelp, I want the quick and dirty of the good, the
bad, and the ugly of the dining experience. If it is a place I am trying for
the first time, I typically do a quick scan of the number of stars, number of
reviewers, and then highlight dishes. These three things help me make a quick
decision on whether or not a place is worth the visit and often times, I end up
ordering the “highlight dish” to determine whether star ratings are valid. Sometimes,
I am find myself in orgasmic bliss and other times, I am sadly underwhelmed. Being that my writing style likes to connect to my own
personal experiences, I felt that perhaps a Yelp review like mine would not
resonate.
Nomday is uniquely a space for me to really unpack my personal dining experience while sharing some of my staples food scenes in Northeast Ohio. I hope you enjoy this series as I open up with my first Nomday post next Monday highlighting a personal local favorite of mine... but of course, you'll have to wait til next week to find out, till then, happy nomday. =)
